Fall Goal Report Released!

Jan 12, 2024

Hi everyone! As Miss Personality Canada I always want to be authentic, real and transparent. While it can be tempting to only show the highlights and wins in life, especially as a titleholder, there are so many lessons we learn from the challenges. In addition to sharing my progress in my goals I decided to also share a diary style goal update on the challenges, lessons and triumphs. Fall came to a close on November 30th, I initially drafted this post on December 1st and took the past month to really reflect on my autumn season; what I achieved, learned and how I grew. About me

Hi! I'm Charlotte Benitz. I grew up in Ottawa, Ontario where I cultivated a passion for paleontology and geology. Despite how outgoing I am now, I was very shy growing up. It wasn't until my family moved across the country to Kelowna, BC that I became to come out of my shell through science fairs. Through middle and high school I competed in many science fairs under the mentorship of my longtime idol, Dr.Phillip Curie, the curator of dinosaurs at the Royal Tyrell Museum. These went on to win many science awards and my confidence and passion for science grew. Through highschool I was competitive volleyball player where I developed strong work ethic and leadership skills. Upon graduating as co-valedictorian, I moved provinces to attend my dream school, the University of Alberta.

I have changed my degree a few times throughout my University of Alberta tenure, finally settling on an Earth and Atmospheric Science major and Biological Science minor. I have had an incredible four years of university and I have learned and grown so much as a student and a person. Now that I approach my final year I've had a revelation about my passions and career aspirations; I have had a long journey with my health, having battled chronic migraines and premenstrual dysphoric disorder, PMDD.

I currently do lots of volunteer and advocating for women's health. I have held the position of VP Events for the UofA Interdisciplinary Women's Health Association and have ongoing membership, I held a board position with the Women's Health Coalition Canada, I have recently been voted president of the Stollery Youth Committee and I currently run my own platform 'Charlotte's Women's Health Hub'. My passion for women's health helped me come to the realization that I want a career in healthcare where I can have first hand patient interaction and now I am preparing to apply for nursing school.

Throughout my whole life, I admired pageant women, their confidence, elegance, and community work. I competed in my first pageant in 9th grade where I was the youngest competitor; despite not placing, I had such an amazing experience. Ever since, I have yearned to continue competing in pageants, but I didn't know how to in Canada. This past October I discovered the Personality Pageants system and took the leap to compete in Miss Queen Alberta, where I had the honour of being crowned as Miss Queen Alberta.

Being Miss Queen Alberta has been the most rewarding experience, I have grown my confidence, made life long connections and been able to grow my platform and passion. After months of hard work, determination, and preparation I was crowned Miss Personality Canada in August 2023; I have big goals and plans. I have poured my heart into growing, learning and preparing for a successful year as a national titleholder. Now I set my sights on international competition!

So that's me - in one page. I have so many aspirations and goals, this is only the beginning!

Current Sponsors

I am so lucky to have Sara's Fashion (@sarasfashionedmonton) as a sponsor. They have provided all of my beautiful competition dresses (featured in these photos on the provincial stage) and photoshoot looks. Sara's Fashion is incredible for all prom, wedding, bridesmaids, and formal dress needs. From short to long, simple to sparkly they have it all! Click below to check out their gowns or visit them at West Edmonton Mall.

Sponsorship Tiers

Being a national titleholder, costs add up quickly like international registration fees, hair & makeup, wardrobe, travel, platform development, coaching, etc - which is why sponsorships are so valued. All sponsorships are extraordinarily appreciated and will receive promotional posts, appearances, and even myself speaking at your events. As well as as a national titleholder I have international opportunities for myself to continue to support your business at an even bigger scale and for years to come!

These tiers outlined below (and in my sponsorship proposal with more detail) provide an idea of what our collaboration could look like with a monetary sponsorship; however I value the work and passion of small businesses and we can also work together to create a custom sponsorship for a mutually beneficial partnership.

Above all I am vying to represent Canada on an international scale with my provincial and national titles, I want to highlight brands with values I align with and quality products/services. This is an opportunity for us to create a lasting and positively impactful relationship between us and the community.

Miss Personality Canada Nationals

Pageantry has evolved significantly from its roots, becoming an opportunity for women to grow an abundance of skills and create many opportunities. Personality pageants is a system that emphasizes personality and community service; previous titleholders have done incredible things like Kealey Atkinson, Miss Personality Canada 2022, flower fundraiser for the Southern Alberta Kidney Foundation . My goal with my national title is to expand my philanthropic platform and inspire young women to aspire to their dreams. I have an extensive plan for my reign, including a calendar year of plans for community involvement and platform development. I have had the opportunity to refine my skills and my goals as a titleholder with my provincial title and it has been remarkable experience I carry with me while holding a national title. I am organized, ambitious, visioned and personable. I am so excited for this year as Miss Personality Canada to expand my reach of positive impact and fulfil my dreams. I have admired pageant women since I was a little girl and being able to have that effect on other little girls like me is my dream come true.

Miss Queen Alberta Reign

Being Miss Queen Alberta has been the most rewarding, invigorating and amazing experience. I will never forget the moment I heard my name on stage. The disbelief, gratitude and pure joy (you can see it on my face in my crowning moment!). I knew I had to make the most of my time with the title, it is a once in a lifetime experience and I was and am determined to follow through with my plans.

Athletic Wear

My on stage look and one of my poses for the 'Atheletic wear'. One of my favourite walks because it really gives the opportunity to showcase my fun personality.

Crowning

My surreal crowning moment. The most amazing night of my life.

Themewear

The theme was 'Met Gala'. I really had fun wearing this big beautiful dress. I am very proud of my runway walk and can't wait to be back on the national stage.

As Miss Queen Alberta

I have been able to organize events, develop my platform and refine my leadership skills. A highlight for me was my Christmas Fundraiser for the Edmonton Christmas Bureau , it was a virtual event I held on my social media and supported providing meals, gifts and support for struggling families in the holiday season. I have also been able to fulfill my lifelong dream of having my own women's health platform: Charlotte's Women's Health Hub (CWHH). I have been involved volunteering and contributing to women's health through established organizations, learning so much and being able to contribute to my goal of improving women's health; I have previously volunteered as a board member with the Women's Health Coalition Canada (check out more here) and been VP Events for UofA student group, the Interdisciplinary Women's Health Association (check out more here).

I have always dreamed of having my own unique platform that encompassed all the things I wish I had access to as a young girl. Charlotte's Women's Health Hub is a personal, informative and unique hub for all things women's health. What makes it so special is that it is so personal; as a young girl trying to find and access women's health resources and information can feel intimidating and hard to navigate, while CWHH has my name and my story. It's like talking to a big sister! While I share far more than my own story, I also uplift other women's experiences, share outside resources, my advice, free downloadable worksheets and more. In addition to this, I have been able to be more involved with my community and create auntehtic connections.

I have collaborated with CAAWLS not for profit organization (more info here) for multiple events. I love working with CAAWLS because of my own love for animals, I have personally experienced how powerfully healing the bond with animals can be, and am inspired by all the incredible work they do for schools, students, seniors and vulnerable populations using the power of animal assisted intervention (AAI). The first event we worked together was the inaugural day of IWHA's annual 'Women's Health Week'. Working with the IWHA exec team I spearheaded the CAAWLS collaboration in which we had two of their wellness animals on campus for students to meet, destress and learn about women's health. The event also included free warm drinks, and optional quiz questions on women's health! It was a hugely successful event that promoted awareness and began the conversation for women's health topics. Recently I collaborated with CAAWLS again to host my 'Furry Friends for Mental Health Fundraiser' which was an in person event hosted by Block1912 cafe which featured a wellness dog, as well as myself creating meaningful community connections, creating mental health conversation and collecting funds which contributed to my mental health fundraising and CAAWLS programs. I loved getting to meet and connect with community members and see the positive impact beginning mental health conversations has.

Another highlight of my reign was my 'Confidence Queens Fundraiser' in featuring Samriddhi Singh, Miss Teen International 2022 and Lily Ahonen, Miss Achievement World 2023. The event was hosted by myself and featured a confidence q&a with Sami and a makeup lesson from Lily. When creating the event I wanted to make it accessible to everyone, so I decided to host it virtually and make tickets 'by donation' to still support my cause but ensure anyone could attend! I am so grateful to have Sami, a self-love advocate and national titleholder volunteer her time for this event, her confidence insights inspired and encouraged. As well as Lily's makeup tutorial; makeup is such a powerful tool for self expression and self care, spending time with yourself choosing colours that reflect your moods and personality is such a special thing; I ams o grateful Lily volunteered her time to support my fundraiser. The event raised over $300 for my mental health fundraising!

These are a few of the highlights from my reign as Miss Queen Alberta so far. Some of my most valued moments have been connecting with the teen delegates and other young people as a role model. I can recall the admiration I had as a young girl for the women in leadership positions in my life; now being one of those women and being able to give back, and be a 'big sister' in the way I needed at that age is so special to me. Being Miss Queen Alberta will be forever special to me and I cannot wait to bring everything I have learned, all my growth and experience to the national stage.

How will I make these goals and plans a reality?

These goals are ambitious but very achievable for my year as Miss Personality Canada - but how?

I have always been organized, punctual and driven. Throughout higshchool I was captain of my volleyball teams and a member of student council, being student council president and co-valedictorian in my senior year. I have a plethora of experience through my various leadership roles throughout recent years; including past VP position and ongoing membership with IWHA (Interdisciplinary Women's Health Association), past board membership with the Women's Health Coalition of Alberta, working as a Resident Assistant with UofA Residence where I gained peer support and event planning experience, most recently taking on presidency of the Stollery Youth Committee and more. All of these experiences helped me hone various skills including leadership, event planning, supportive listening, creativity, and more. I also created strong lasting connections with many individuals from each involvment and experience I have had, and I continue to network and actively seek and create further connections. My experience and connections have opened the door to begin the process of working towards these various goals. I have become the best version of myself to take on the Miss Personality Canada title and make my plans into reality!

FALL Goal Report

December 1st 2023

My fall goal updates, an honest diary of my fall season

Fall always seems to become the busiest time of year, especially for students. After being crowned Miss Personality Canada, ‘back to school’ season was only two weeks away. So after a fulfilling yet busy summer of preparing for nationals, studying abroad, taking spring courses, and carrying out my duties as Miss Queen Alberta I spent my two weeks getting my plans in order, preparing for my final year of my undergraduate degree and practicing some self care and rest.

During the fall my biggest hurdle was learning how to juggle everything on my plate, this has definitely been the busiest season and semester of my entire degree - actually my entire life! I had responsibilities as Miss Personality Canada and Miss Queen Alberta, a full five class and two lab course load, presidency of the Stollery Youth Committee, and completion of my two degree certificates to all balance at once. As a titleholder being genuine and authentic is one my priorities and that means sharing just how hard this semester has been. I felt spread very thin, I often felt like I wasn’t doing enough for each responsibility as I had so many to worry about all at once. My confidence was up and down as I had many achievements but many challenges alongside them.

As a national titleholder, preparing to represent Canada internationally, I live with my outlook to ‘make the most of each day’, this includes ensuring I learn all I can from every high and low. A big takeaway I had from this season was learning to balance and adapt. I had an incredible opportunity to speak to 8th and 9th grade girls in November, something I have always wanted to do; this was also a goal included in my ‘Reign Plan’ for spring. Of course I jumped at this opportunity but also recognized I could adapt my plans, serendipitously I discovered a very cool family festival event happening in the spring I am now planning to become involved with. Adaptability allowed me to embrace the opportunities that arise without letting go of goals that are important to me or becoming too overwhelmed. It is not realistic to do everything at once and despite wanting to I know that to do a good job of everything it is ok to make changes.

As a national titleholder following through on the goals and plans I make is of utmost importance, and learning how to adapt in ways that are positive, genuine and responsible is key. So while I did not volunteer in a fall parade as initially planned, I will be volunteering in a spring festival AND I fulfilled my goal of speaking at a middle school that was initially planned for spring.

I have always been an academically driven woman; it is important to me as Miss Personality Canada to be a role model of a women in STEM. Being in the final year of my undergraduate degree majoring in Earth and Atmospheric Science and minoring in Biology I have a very rigourous academic schedule. With my aspiration to pursue nursing to ultimately open my own women’s health clinic one day and continue my advocacy for women’s health, my grades are very important. While I wholeheartedly believe that grades are not a reflection of worth or even necessarily knowledge, unfortunatley they do impact my next steps in education. This means I have had to develop my time management skills to be even more refined. I had to prioritize and maintain my mental health. I learned so much during this period and created organization skills that will benefit me immensely during the rest of my reign and internationals prep.

Being a titleholder can feel like a lot of pressure, we want to be our best and sometimes we can be very hard on ourselves - I find I can be very hard on myself! So down below the goals update (click here!) I have included some of the highlights of fall, my favourite memories, fun moments and accomplishments I am so proud of!

I am so excited for my winter plans! Being Miss Personality Canada is a dream come true and I am so grateful to be on this journey. 2024 here I come!

Goal

Update

platform

Begin the process of putting CWHH worksheets into health and counselling clinics, use existing connections with UofA mental health groups

I have created my 3 page self-care package designed to focus on reflection and growth, emphasizing the importance of self-love. Next steps are carrying out the social media fundraising campaign to fund printing. I have selected the first locations I would like to offer the packages to.

community

Create a consistent posting schedule, sharing passion, platform and pageant content

During the month of September I needed to focus on recovery; after being go go go all summer I realized I was on the brink of burn out and needed to take care of my mental health. This included needing a break from social media. During this break I spent time creating a posting schedule that is attainable, impactful and reflects me! I began creating monthly posting schedules, allowing a chance to reflect on the past month of what went well and if the schedule can be tweaked for improvement. This system has kept me accountable and encouraged growth and development.

platform

Volunteer in a halloween/thanksgiving parade, connect with young people/children

I did not volunteer in a fall parade but I definitley did connect with young people. An opportunity arose to speak to middle school girls, a goal I had set for spring, I made the decision to swap these goals in the schedule as serendipitously I learned about a very cool family festival happening in the spring that I am planning to be apart of. I was able to learn and practice the valuable skill of adaptability while fulfilling my goals and focusing on the purpose behind these goals. They are not a checklist, they have a deep meaning and connection to my overarching purpose in pageantry and life.

I had an incredible time presenting about social media safety and confidence to 8th and 9th grade girls at an Alberta middle school. I shared parts of my story, connected with them and most fun making self love friendship bracelets together! Truly a remarkable experience!

That‘s my current goal progress!

I am so proud of what I have achieved this season! I have learned, grown and shared this experience with all of you. Every day I am so grateful for the opportunity to be Miss Personality Canada; the support and love I have recieved in this journey means the world to me.

Presidency of the Stollery Youth Committee!

Throughout my life I have contributed to and been a part of many volunteer organizations. Being the final year of my degree I wanted to take the leap and lead as president. I was so excited to be voted president of the Stollery Youth Committee UAlberta Student group; a group aimed to volunteer and fundraise for the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. We hosted successful events and coordinated volunteering throughout the semester and are already planning for our fun winter initiatives.

I was published in a magazine!

Queen Alberta Weekend Preparation

Getting ready to crown a new queen

In October 2022 I achieved the great privelege of being Miss Queen Alberta. It was my first pageant and changed the trajectory of my life. It inspired me to live out my dreams, encouraged my nationals preparation and brought me friends and experiences I will be forever grateful for. I knew that passing on this title would mean a lot to me and I wanted to be as involved as possible. I have spent the past few months preparing for the Queen Alberta weekend, to reunite with my pageant sisters, meet new pageant delegates, and ultimately crown a new Miss Queen Alberta to takeover the incredible journey I began. So let me fill you in on all the preparation!

Mentoring!

When I was preparing for Miss Queen Alberta I was so lucky to be given so much support and advice. I felt it really important to pass forward this support I was given. I launched my MQA Mentorship Fundraiser and provided mentorship to delegates for low cost with all proceeds supporting mental health. I loved meeting the delegates, sharing my advice and taking on a new role as a mentor.

Preparing a workshop!

I was really eager to be involved in the weekend and was so overjoyed to be invited to give a workshop! From my work with brands to winning the Social Media Queen Award at nationals 2023 I felt confident and equipped to share all my top tips on Social Media & Personal Branding. I worked hard to compile an engaging, aesthetic and fun workshop and even put together two suprise goodie bags of my fav social media essentials!

The Queen Alberta Survival Guide Series!!

I created the Queen Alberta Survival Guide Instagram Reel Series to provide all the tips and advice that helped me grow and excel in pageantry. I wanted to create something to support the delegates, share my advice and soothe anxieties before the big pageant. I am so proud of this series!

Writing my speech

My time as Miss Queen Alberta has changed my life so I knew sitting down to write my speech would be filled with emotion. The second I started typing the words just came to me.

Picking my gowns with @Sarasfashionedmonton

I am always ecstatic when I get to visit my incredible sponsor Sara’s Fashion to choose gowns! I had so many stunning dresses to choose from and ended up with three beautiful gowns. The biggest thank you to my sponsor Sara’s Fashion for always supporting me and helping me feel beautiful on my special days.

Beginning a Tradition & Sharing my advice

I felt very passionate about creating a legacy and tradition as the first Miss Queen Alberta. I wanted something that would tether me to winner I crown and all those who follow. With the help of my mom we came up with an idea I fell in love with and a special MQA tradition was born. I paired this with a card written to the next Miss Queen Alberta, one half of which I wrote before meeting the delegates, with plans to write the other half after crowning the next queen....

Glam Day!

I wanted to feel and look my best coming into the special weekend so I had a glam day! I got my hair done with fresh blonde, picked up some new makeup, did my eyebrows and overall pampered myself before what would be a busy & fun filled weekend.

Reflecting and letting go <3

I already felt emotional preparing for the weekend and knowing I would be passing on the journey and title that changed my life. I spent some time with myself reflecting on the journey, all of my accomplishments, growth and moments. I let myself feel all the emotions and came to peace with letting go of my time as the reigning Miss Queen Alberta.

So there is a snapshot of my preparation

There is so much that goes into getting ready to pass on the crown and I loved sharing these these moments. I was so emotional as my time as the reigning queen came to an end but so ecstatic knowing one of the hardworking delegates would continue the journey I began and make me proud. Next up the weekend itself! Follow along my pageant weekend below!

Giving out cards

Myself and my sister queen Megan gave out our cards which we spent all night signing and adding special messaes to, to the delegates. It was so sweet to have a moment with each girl and get to know them better.

Later we were surprised when Canadian icon Victoria Baldesara surprised us!! We took photos, received a signed copy of her cover issues of Sophia Lia Mag and took part in a panel. Myself, my sister queens and Victoria did a Q&A panel and answered such fun and creative questions from the girls.

We finished the night with cake and kareoke and it was the perfect way to wrap up such an amazing day!

Celeb Surprise!

Day 2

We started the morning with a really special mental health workshop led by Alisha.

Then we began rehearsals! We learned the opening number, which in all honesty I did struggle with the choreography - but in the end we had so much fun and created a really stunning open number.

Rehearsals!

Getting ready

I had the amazing opportunity to host the first half of the pageant alongside Alisha. It was so special to spend that time on stage connecting with the audience and witnessing the delegate’s stunning performances. Hosting is a skill I am actively working on and this was such a cool experience.

Crowning

Speech & Final Walk

My speech and final walk were surreal experiences. To have the opportunithy to share my experience over the past year and reflect on all the moments and achievements was remarkably special.. My final walk had me so emotional. It was the perfect cap to this journey.

Crowning! I crowned the beatiful Morgan as our new Miss Queen Alberta. She shone all weekend and is truly the embodiment of what it means to be a queen. I can’t wait to see what she does this year <3

FOLLOW MORGAN

After Crowning

Finally at the end of the night we all had time to celebrate together, give all the hugs, say all the congratulations and enjoy the moment as a big pageant family.

Finally I felt it only right to cap my expereince the way it began: with an iconic sleeping photo. I signed off with my final sleep as Miss Queen Alberta.

Saying Goodbye!

Saying goodbye to Miss Queen Alberta

Being Miss Queen Alberta truly changed my life. It made my dreams into reality. Catapulted my confidence, self assurance and internal happiness. It brought me experiences, friendships, and opportunities beyond what I could have imagined. It inspired me to pursue my passion for women’s health, pushed me to improve my skills for nationals, encouraged me to make the most of every day and, most remarkably, showed myself how capable and amazing I am. It was the thing that made me feel like me again after feeling lost and untethered. While I continue my year as Miss Personality Canada, I say goodbye to my time as Miss Queen Alberta. As my first title this will always mean so much to me and hold a place in my heart. I know Morgan will continue this title with kindness and passion and I am so excited to have her as our new queen. Below I have included a gallery of moments and memories from my time as Miss Queen Alberta to reflect and remember.

Signing off for the last time, Charlotte Benitz, Miss Queen Alberta 2022/2023

Winter Fun

It was a busy winter! Here is what I‘ve been up to...

Winter is my favourite season and I had so much fun spending it as Miss Personality Canada. Follow along my winter activities!

Judging a Virtual Pageant

I was invited to be a guest judge for a Canadian national pageant. It was so much fun getting to know the personality and platforms of the delegates. I love to be on the other side of pageantry taking the time and care to be a thoughtful judge.

Christmas as Miss Personality Canada

Christmas is my favourite holiday and spending it as Miss Personality Canada was so special. I was able to spend some quality time with my family. The holidays always make me appreciate everything in my life and show my gratitude for the special things in my life.

Holiday Mail

Personality pageants seasonal mail is such a fun chance to connect with my pageant community. To show my love for my pageant family I decided to make friendship bracelets! I am a big Taylor Swift fan, she inspires me in so many ways and I loved how making friendship bracelets connected her fans around the world. I made a special bracelet, hand written card and the fun Christmas card (in the polaroid to the left) for each member of my pageant family receiving mail. It was such a fun way to show my apprecaition and admiration for my sister queens. I also was so lucky to receive some amazing, thoughtful cards and treats from my sister queens as well. This was such a beautiful way for us all to connect even when spread across the country.

Secret Santa

I participated in PPCA Secret Santa! I received the most thoughtful gift from my sister queen Miss Personality Northern BC, Brynn. It blew me away the time and thought that went into choosing I gift I love so much. I want to say another huge thank you to Brynn. Check out the reel of my unboxing on my instagram (the polaroid to the left shows a snippet). I also got to choose a fun gift for my sister queen Miss Teen Universe Petite Canada, Sadie! I really love to jump at any chance to connect with my sister queens and am so appreciative that PPCA has these fun opportunities.

Pageant Mentoring!

I introduced my pageant mentoring fundraiser! Throughout my pageant experience I was so blessed to receive plenty of guidance, coaching and support; I wanted to find a way to give back and support a cause I care about. 100% of funds from my mentoring go to my mental health fundraiser in partnership with Sophia Lia Mental Health Magazine. Having achieved provincial and national titles and special awards I wanted to share this experience with delegates in their journey. This experience has been so rewarding! I have had the opportunity to work with so many inspiring women and am so excited to continue to share my knowledge to support women on their journeys.

Miss Queen Alberta

My time as Miss Queen Alberta came to a close this February. This was such an overarching experience I created an entire segment on my website covering everything including leading up to the weekend and the entire special weekend. It was truly a magical experience to be an outgoing titleholder and I will treasure this weekend forever.

More Blog Posts!

My platform means so much to my heart and uploading more blog posts always makes my heart grow! Creating the self growth downloads that I pair with my blogs is so special to me. I know how much guided journaling helped my healing journey and sharing that with my community fulfils my passion.

Attending the Silver Skate Festival

Attending a festival as Miss Personality Canada was so much fun! The silver skate festival is an annual family event in Edmonton. I had such a great experience seeing the ice sculptures, meeting the community and participating in the activities! Immersing myself in the community is a big priority of mine as Miss Personality Canada.

Visiting Jasper!

Yes I hiked my sash to the top of a mountain! As Canadians we are blessed with this incredible scenic country and representing our nation I want to appreciate and showcase the diverse beauty we are so lucky to enjoy. I took the time to connect with locals and connect with nature on this incredible trip.

Pink Shirt Day

I posted in acknowledgment of ‘Pink Shirt Day’ for anti-bullying. As someone who has dealt with bullying personally and knows the detriment it can have on one’s mental health I felt strongly in acknowleding the importance of this day.

Designing my Titleholder Page!

I had so much fun creating my titleholder page on the PPCA website. It was such a great experience to put all my favourite memories, moments and initatives together. Check it out and get to know me even better <3

International Women‘s Day Live

Myself and Miss Teen Personality Canada hosted an instagram livestream for International Women’s Day. This was such a fun event to bring together women and celebrate all the women in our lives. Empowered by Personality is about lifting up women with the power of who they are and that is exactly what we did in this event.

After Crowning Night Interview

I was so excited to be invited onto the After Crowning Night podcast hosted by Sasha Valladares our Miss Teen Personality Eastern Canada. This was such a fun opportunity to share more of my journey, my purpose and passion. Huge thank you to Sasha for this amazing opportunity.

This is just a glimpse of my winter memories... more are being uploaded soon :-)

Winter as Miss Personality Canada was more magical than I could’ve imagined. I will cherish each and every one of these memories for my lifetime. Spending my favourite season with this incredible honour was the biggest blessing. I can’t wait for all the future memories to be made as Miss Personality Canada 2023.

Introducing...

The McManus Ambition Scholarship

Sponsored by:

Charlotte Benitz & Meg McManus

I am so excited to be presenting the McManus Ambition in Pageantry Scholarship to be awarded at the Personality Pageant Provincial crowning April 6th. Creating a scholarship was very meaningful to me as I know financial barriers deter the pursuit of one’s dreams. I wanted to create something that rewarded perseverance, tenacity, hard work and, of course, ambition. Ambition above all will propel your life and pageant endeavours. My mom and I sponsored this award together as family support and love has been the backbone of my life. She is the one who showed me the power of ambition and engrained in me a strong work ethic and drive. We are beyond excited to be awarding one teen and one miss both a monetary scholarship towards the continuation of their pageant journey to the national stage and mentorship with myself. I am ecstatic to work with these individuals on their goals & skills leading up to the national competition.

Good luck to the delegates and thank you PPCA for welcoming this new award 💗

The Award:

  • $150 towards Personality Pageant National Registration fees
  • $350 mentorship package with Miss Personality Canada 2023/24
  • Award Sash

Myself and Miss Teen Personality Canada were beyond excited to host the live Q&A for virtual provincials. Live Q&A is my favourite area of competition so getting to be a co host was definitely a core memory. I love getting to hear the genuine passions and inspiration of the delegates in the moment. This was an amazing experience!

Judging Virtual Provincials

I was honoured to invited to judge interviews for virutal provicials as well as video submissions. It is such a unique competition and gives the delegates so much creative freedom to share their purpose. I loved getting to know these inspiring women in interview and hear their why behind competing.

I continued to share my journey on social media and ensured I share my best advice with our provincial delegates. I love using my social media pages as a safe place for delegates to learn, grow and feel inspired.

Introducing the McManus Ambition Scholarship

A dream came true as we brought the McManus Ambition Scholarship to life! Being aware of the financial barriers that can hold back women from pursuing their dreams I wanted to make an impact and provide both a monetary scholarship in accompaniment with personal mentoring for their next competition. I collaborated with my Mom to make this possible and reward one Teen and one Miss for their remarkable ambition and tenacity.

Hosting Provincial Crowning

IHOSTED CROWNING!!!! I cannot contain how exciting of an experince this was! Alongside Puneet we welcomed many new provincial and city titleholders to the PPCA family. Seeing their joy and excitment was so special as their dreams came true before our eyes.

Spring Photoshoot

I was so fortunate to be back in front of the camera with @gsetters.photography capturing so many stunning shots. I always feel confident and empowered letting my personality sparkle in front of the camera. As well as see so many of my pageant sisters and have so much fun together!

Attending the Network of Empowered Women Conference

I was so grateful to be selected as one of 100 Candian students from across the country to attend the Network of Empowered Women Conference. This was truly a once in a lifetime experience getting to learn from industry professionals, collaborate with like minded women and ultimately have so much fun! I was so excited to partake in my first case competition which I am so elated to share that my team won! As well as I took home the social media award! PPCA Brand Trip!

I was invited on my first ever brand trip - and it was a Personality Pageants Brand Trip!!! This was a life changing experience. Setting off to Mazatlan Mexico with two of my best friends, Miss Queen Teen Alberta 2023, Megan and Miss Teen Personality Canada 2023, Puneet we made the most incredible memories. I documented this trip thoroughly on my social media and am adding an expanded website section covering the entire experience!

So that’s Spring

A peak into my spring season. I have so much fun documenting all I get up to with my crown and sash. This title has brought me countless opportunities I am so grateful for. We had an incredible spring season and I can’t wait to finish this reign confidently with an incredible summer season.

Mentorship Fundraiser

I am so excited to launch my Mentorship Fundraiser! All donations will be used to put Sophia Lia Mag into schools across the country. Sophia Lia Mag is a mental health and wellness magazine dedicated to reducing the stigma of mental health and starting conversations. Getting these magazines into schools makes mental health resources accessible to everyone!

Since beginning pageantry I have achieved provincial and national titles as well as the Social Media Queen and Miss Congeniality awards at Personality Pageant Canada Nationals 2023. I have grown immensely in pageantry and life since joining the personality pageants family. I was so fortunate to receive mentoring from amazing coaches (including Samriddhi Singh and Alisha Brown who I highly highly recommend) who helped me develop my skills and become a strong, perseverant delegate. I wanted to give back the support I was so blessed to receive and support one of my favourite causes at the same time!

This fundraiser is live now until Feb 3rd!

I am offering pageant mentorship to help you achieve your pageant dreams.

This can include social media review, wardrobe advising, Q&A tips, interview advice, mindset work, and more! Please check out my mentorship package below. We can also work together to create a custom package.

Platform

My own first hand experiences with women's health made clear to me that change needs to happen. Women's Health is unique and often overlooked, underresearched and neglected. I do volunteer work in women's health through my VP position with UofA's Interdisciplinary Women's Health Association and my board position with Women's Health Coalition Canada.

'Charlotte's Women's Health Hub' is my personal platform; it is a community, a resource and a movement for women’s health. LIVE NOW - check it out at the link below!

My Journy with Women's Health

From my first period I felt different. That first period rather than being a special moment for a young girl beginning to grow up, I was almost taken to the hospital - my parents thought I had appendicitis, the pain was so unbearable, until I saw that Aunt Flo had come to visit and my mother knew I was different. She knew I would begin the same struggle she had dealt with her whole life - I had Premenstrual Dysmorphic Disorder (PMDD). Not a very well known condition, it affects 5-8% of women according to Harvard Health. I often explain is as similar to PMS but far more extreme. The mental and physical toll PMDD took on my body each month was debilitating; however the dismissal and limited help from doctors was just as unbearable. I was and still am often told to just exercise, or eat better when I have always been an active, healthy girl - I was an all star athlete in high school for goodness sake! Yet, doctors would still dismiss my intense symptoms or just prescribe pain killer after pain killer that didn't put a dent in the chronic migraines or help intense mood swings.

As a young girl I felt so isolated, alone and misunderstood. The loneliness was sometimes the worst part of my suffering. Lucky for me I had a mom who could understand and support me. But I knew that other young girls just like me were still suffering. As I got older, I realized my symptoms were likely never going away and that there wasn't enough resources, research or options for women dealing with health issues. That too many other women were being dismissed and suffering because of the lack of health support. It's this which inspired my passion for women's health. I founded my blog style platform 'Charlotte's Women's Health Hub' (CWHH) to become a place where women could feel seen in their struggles, to find resources and to feel less alone. CWHH is growing into a platform that features my own story, uplifts other women's voices, shares resources AND CREATES resources! During my own health journey I found the power of worksheets. It sounds simple, but an intentional worksheet helped me do many things: track my symptoms, assess my feelings, plan my day, week or month. The structure provided in a worksheet, rather than the intimidation of a blank page, was so helpful for me. Now I create CWHH custom worksheets to share the healing. I have big plans and a big future in mind for CWHH. My passion for women's health even reinspired my academic plans; after completing my science degree in April 2024 I am pursing nursing school with the ultimate goal of becoming a nurse practitioner and owning my own Women's Health Clinic! I am becoming the woman that my 15 year old self needed to look up to, because I know there are so many like her feeling alone in their suffering. I am here to start the conversation, advocate to refocus the research and support all women.

Love, Charlotte Benitz
